Sustainability
To utilize resources at a rate no faster than they recharge; to live in
a manner that allows all others to live equally well; to love your
great, great, great grandchildren.
1. Transportation
Get where you need to go using your own muscles. If you are
strong and healthy, help somebody who isn't to get around.
2. Shelter
Use passive
solar design to heat or cool your home. If it isn't oriented to do
that, move in with friends and disassemble your house for spare
building materials. Plan and build for resource conservation.
3. Food
Organic gardening, solar greenhouses, and permaculture can
provide locally all we need to consume for a healthy diet.
4. Work
Sustainably use
local resources to meet local needs. Trade only for those items that
cannot be locally produced. Don't allow anybody to be exploited on your
behalf.
5. Community
Build democratic institutions that encourage creative
collaboration through compassionate communication. |
